Do you know how your customers rate you compared to your competitors?

What are you doing to stand out?

Seth Godin in his book Purple Cow, stressed the need to stand out, to be remarkable. If you don’t you risk looking the same as everyone else and that means having to discount to get more clients.

Marketing your salon so you stand out is more than running promotions to get more clients. Marketing today is about designing your client’s total experience from when they first hear about you right through to when they pay, walk out the door and start telling all their friends about the amazing experience they had.

It is about ensuring your team deliver on your salon promise, getting your pricing right to convey this promise and developing the right techniques to sell your promise.

To stand out and to be remarkable you have to:
•    Get clear on what your point of difference is relative to your local competition
•    Design everything so it delivers and communicates that point of difference
•    Identify the touchpoints where you can deliver your point of difference
•    Keep looking for ways to enhance your point of difference
•    Create a great experience for your clients so they will spread the word

How real is your vision?

It is important to keep your vision alive. One of the big challenges that you will have as a salon owner is to remember your vision.

When you have the craziness of the everyday tasks coming at you, it takes something to hold and remember the vision.

There are a number of things you can do to remember your vision.

• Review your end goal every day before you start. Then at the end of the day ask yourself… “What was one thing (just one thing) that we did today that will move us toward our goal?”

• Create a story around your goal… why it is important to you, what it is going to look like when you’ve achieved it, what difference (it doesn’t matter how big or small) you will make for others.

• Keep telling your story. Make a point of telling your story every day. Tell it to your team, your clients, your family and friends… anyone who will listen. Notice how you feel when you tell your story. The more you share it with others, the more real it becomes. The more real it becomes the more you will remember it.

When that happens for every decision you make you will be asking yourself… “Is this moving us toward our vision or away from it?”

What’s your story? Who are you going to share it with today?

The Servilles Salon Business Programme will help you to get clear on your vision so you can share it and people will want to be part of your salon business.

Are you stuck on the floor?

•    Do you have a Salon that works… or are you the one that is having to do all the work?

•    If you’re not there will the Salon be generating enough cash?

•    If you leave for even a couple of days are you worried the Salon will fall apart.

•    Do you get the feeling that you don’t have a business…you have a job?

This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be on the floor. If you love it and choose to do it , that’s great. If however, you feel that you have to be there then you don’t have a choice.

Freedom comes when you have a choice.

Michael Gerber in his best selling book the E-Myth distinguished the different types of small business owners – the Entrepreneur, the Manager and the Technician.

To get free of your Salon business you need to let your Entrepreneurial mindset rule the roost, put in place a Management system and then let the Technician do the work.

The Servilles Salon Business Programme will give you the tools and the understanding that you need to operate from the Entrepreneur’s mindset and to build and implement the Managements systems required to set you free.
